50Hertz Transmission GmbH is a leading German transmission system operator (TSO) headquartered in Berlin. Established in 2002 from the former VEAG AG, it operates the high-voltage electricity grid in northeastern and eastern Germany, including Berlin and Hamburg. With over 2,100 employees, 50Hertz ensures the reliable supply of electricity to approximately 18 million people.

The company is at the forefront of Germany's energy transition, aiming to integrate 100% renewable energy into its grid by 2032. It manages more than 10,000 kilometers of transmission lines and is involved in significant infrastructure projects like the SuedOstLink, a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) line connecting eastern and southern Germany. 50Hertz is a subsidiary of Eurogrid GmbH, with an 80% stake held by the Belgian Elia Group and 20% by the German state-owned bank KfW.
