Management Accountant - Manufacturing
Department: Finance
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Villawood - Hybrid
Compensation: $105,000 - $125,000 / year
Description
Who We Are:
You might know us as the inventors of the bath bomb, but there’s more to this great-smelling, partly employee-owned, family-run company than pioneering cosmetics. We believe our business should put more back into the world than it takes and demonstrate that capitalism can be a force for good.
We put our people first and fight cruel practices like animal testing, promote regeneration, and show that it is what’s inside that counts - whether that’s an ingredient in a product, or the minerals in a smartphone.
Diversity Matters:
We are building a brand that represents the people of the world. It’s what you do that counts, and we are always looking to expand perspectives and voices to shape our future.
We see you, we celebrate you, we want you!

About the Role:
Our AUSAO finance team supports retail, digital and manufacturing operations across Australia and Aotearoa (NZ). We’re in a real period of change. Moving to Xero, migrating manufacturing to a new ERP, and automating manual processes that have been in place too long. We’re looking for people who want to be part of that work, not just maintain the status quo.
This is a hands-on management accounting role embedded in our Villawood manufacturing operation. You’ll own the month-end close for Manufacturing, run inventory and cost accounting across the entity, and act as a genuine finance business partner to the Manufacturing Director. That means providing the insight and analysis they need to make good decisions, not just producing reports and handing them over.
More than the task list, we’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about getting it right. Someone who’s comfortable sitting with complexity, asks good questions before jumping to conclusions, and understands that behind every journal entry there’s a real business decision being made.
Key Responsibilities
-
Act as a finance business partner to the Manufacturing Director, providing analysis, commentary and guidance to support operational decision-making
-
Own month-end close for the manufacturing entity, including inventory journals, cost of goods, and intercompany reconciliations between manufacturing and retail
-
Prepare and review closing stock valuations, goods in transit, and opening stock reversals
-
Reconcile manufacturing sales and purchases against retail counterparts, investigating and resolving discrepancies
-
Maintain and apply cost prices across SKUs, including packaging, consumables and finished goods
-
Manage wastage reporting and ensure accurate GL treatment across waste categories
-
Support the preparation of management accounts and commentary for the manufacturing entity
-
Work closely with the manufacturing team at Villawood to ensure financial processes reflect operational reality
-
Contribute to ERP and system improvements (including Xero onboarding)
-
Build and maintain the GL mapping and chart of accounts for manufacturing-related activity
-
Support payroll GL submissions and liaise with the payroll team on coding and accruals
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 3-4+ years in a management accounting or financial accounting role, ideally with exposure to manufacturing
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or CPA/CA completed or in progress
- Solid understanding of inventory accounting, cost of goods, and stock movement journals
- Comfortable with modern accounting systems and confident when those systems change. We’re mid-migration across both ERP and finance platforms and you’ll be an active part of that
- Strong reconciliation skills and a low tolerance for leaving things unexplained
- Clear communicator, comfortable translating numbers into plain language for non-finance stakeholders
- Experience with MYOB, Xero or a comparable system
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Practices active and compassionate listening
- Proactive and creative problem solving skills
- Solid understanding of modern office platforms and communication tools
Our Perfect Match Is:
- Passionate about working within a values-driven business
- Genuinely curious when something doesn’t reconcile - they follow it until it makes sense, not file it for later
- Comfortable on the warehouse floor as much as behind a spreadsheet - they ask questions, build relationships, and understand the operation they’re supporting
- Someone who takes real pride in their work and holds themselves to a high standard without being told to
- A clear and confident communicator who can translate numbers into plain language for people who don’t live in spreadsheets
- Reliable and easy to work with - the kind of person their team can count on when month-end gets tight
- Organised and self-directed, with the maturity to know when to escalate and when to move on
- QAD experience is a genuine bonus but we know it’s rare
