Job Responsibilities
- Operate heavy plant and mobile equipment for cargo handling and terminal operation (e.g. operate pail loaders for bulk cargo discharge, ashore and warehouse loading)
- Ensure equipment is used safely and in accordance with operational procedures and guidelines.
- Carry out pre-operation checks to confirm equipment is in good working condition.
- Monitor equipment performance during operation and report any defects or abnormalities.
- Support efficient cargo movement to meet operational productivity targets.
- Report incidents, near-misses, and equipment issues promptly.
- Coordinate with supervisors and other operators to ensure smooth workflow
- Assist in maintaining an organized and safe work environment within the terminal.

Competence Requirements
- Safe operation of heavy plant and mobile equipment used in cargo handling and port operations.
- Strong understanding of port safety regulations and adherence to operational safety standards
- Ability to conduct pre-start inspections and routine checks on equipment.
- Skilled in operating equipment such as reach stackers, forklifts, cranes, or terminal tractors (as applicable)
- Knowledge of cargo handling procedures and terminal workflow operations
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions accurately.
- Basic mechanical awareness to identify and report equipment faults or abnormalities.
- Strong situational awareness and ability to work safely in high-traffic operational environments.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with supervisors, and operations teams.
- Reliability, attention to detail, and ability to maintain productivity under shift-based operations

Educational Qualification
|
- O/Level (WAEC / NECO / GCE / NABTEB).
|
|
|
- Possession of Trade Test Certificates (I, II, and III) in Mechanical/Plant Operation or an equivalent recognized technical trade is an added advantage.
|
|
Desired Experience
|
- At least five (5) years of active, hands-on working experience operating heavy plant machinery (specifically payloaders, reach stackers, or heavy forklifts) within a maritime port terminal, large construction site, or complex industrial logistics hub.
