At Tony's Chocolonely, we are committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. So it's not just about our own cocoa, but all cocoa worldwide. As an impact company that makes chocolate, we’re changing the industry from within and we won’t be satisfied until exploitation across the entire cocoa sector is a thing of the past. That’s a pretty bold ambition for a relatively small player in the industry. Yuuup, we’re crazy about chocolate and serious about people that way.
So, what does it look like in practice? Our first step was to design and deliver a sustainable sourcing model that works in practice and at scale on the ground in West Africa; we call this model Tony’s 5 Sourcing Principles (check it out below). This sourcing model is designed to tackle the root causes of exploitation in cocoa. This starts with paying farmers a living income for their cocoa.
Our success in achieving our mission and continuing to raise the bar as a team also relies on attracting, training and retaining some of the best talent out there.
