Role Overview:
The Finance Intern plays an important support role within the Finance Department by assisting with daily finance operations, month-end processes, accounts receivable follow-ups, reconciliations, cash tracking, and finance administration. The intern helps ensure that financial records are accurate, cash reports are updated, documents are properly maintained and outstanding customer balances and staff expenses are followed up in a timely manner. This role contributes directly to the efficiency of the finance department and supports the company’s cash flow and reporting processes.
What You'll do:
Accounts Receivable Support
- Assist in fiscalising customer invoices, dispatching statements and receipting payments..
- Follow up on outstanding invoices via phone calls, emails and physical visits where necessary.
- Assist in resolving customer payment queries and obtaining proof of payments.
- Support month-end collections to ensure outstanding balances are reduced.
- Assist in reconciling customer accounts
- Help maintain accurate customer records and payment tracking schedules.
Accounts Payable Support
- Assist in on vendor onboarding tasks.
- Monitoring the accounts payable mailbox for incoming invoices and responding to vendor inquiries.
- Updating the accounting software (NetSuite) by performing three-way matching of documents prior to invoice posting and payment approval
- Assist in the preparation of the weekly payment schedules and distribution of remittance advice to vendors.
- Assist in reconciling vendor accounts as well
- Help maintain accurate vendor record Cash Flow and Cash Summary Support
- Update the daily and weekly cash summary.
- Track expected receipts and planned payments.
- Assist the Finance Supervisor with cash flow monitoring and reporting.
- Update payment trackers and cash movement schedules.
Financial reporting Support
- Assist the Finance Supervisor with month-end processes and closing activities.
- Assist in the collation of bank statements and preparation of bank reconciliations.
- Assist with sales order validations and reconciliation where required.
- Support the wider finance team during periods when there are high volumes of transactions.
Expense and Travel Expense Follow-ups
- Follow up on staff travel expenses and retirement of travel advances and review of supporting documents and receipts are submitted.
General Support to Finance Department
- Assist with data entry and updating finance records.
- Support the Finance Supervisor with daily finance tasks.
- Assist in improving filing, tracking and finance administrative processes.
- Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by the Finance Supervisor.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in economics, accounting, finance ,commerce or other quantitative field
- CPA Part 2 or higher
