Help shape the technology behind one of the Netherlands’ most trusted brands. As our new Frontend Engineer (React, DevOps), you’ll build and run applications that support our store operations domain. Working at the intersection of engineering, retail execution, and business, you’ll help improve the daily operation of 1,200+ Albert Heijn stores while enabling innovation, reliability, and impact at scale.
Build systems that matter at real scale. In this role, you will design and build applications that support business-critical processes used daily across the organization. Your work directly impacts store execution, system reliability, developer productivity, and the ability of teams to deliver features faster and more safely. You will work on production systems at scale, where performance, resilience, and maintainability are first-class concerns.
This is how you will reinvent food retail.
- You design, develop, and operate web/mobile frontend applications using modern engineering practices.
- You work with technologies such as React/NextJS and monorepo architecture.
- You take ownership of applications end-to-end: from design and implementation to production support and continuous improvement, DevOps.
- You collaborate closely with product, UX, store operations, and other engineering teams to make pragmatic technical decisions.
How we work
- Engineers have real ownership and autonomy in technical decisions within our architectural guiderails.
- With the latest DevAI tooling we supercharge our development workflow, automate where we can, giving you more time to focus on creative problem-solving.
- Code quality matters: peer reviews, clear architecture, and readable code are part of daily work.
- Technical debt is acknowledged and addressed.
- We value simple, robust solutions over unnecessary complexity.
Why this role is interesting for engineers
- You’ll work on systems with real users and real impact.
- You'll tackle meaningful engineering challenges, balancing usability, performance, maintainability, and scalability in products that are used every day across our stores and operations.
- You’ll have time and space to improve both the codebase and the way we work.
- You’ll grow technically through exposure to complex systems, experienced engineers, and meaningful ownership
