Diversity matters
We are building a brand that represents the people of the world. It’s what you do that counts, and we are always looking to expand perspectives and voices to shape our future.
We see you, we celebrate you, we want you!
Who we are
You might know us as the inventors of the bath bomb, but there’s more to this great-smelling, partly employee-owned, family-run company than pioneering cosmetics. We believe our business should put more back into the world than it takes and demonstrate that capitalism can be a force for good.
The Living Wage Foundation’s statement 'a hard day's work deserves a fair day's pay' is one that we are proud to commit to in the UK. As an accredited Living Wage employer, we put our people first and fight cruel practices like animal testing, promote regeneration, and show that it is what’s inside that counts - whether that’s an ingredient in a product, or the minerals in a smartphone.
The role
The Mid-Weight designer works alongside the Gift Design Lead and Creative Category Lead to support the creation and development of the Gifts category. This role involves working collaboratively as a team to deliver designs from concept to production, with attention to detail when finalising designs.
This role is not only responsible for creating designs according to the brief but also for inputting their own ideas to create imaginative designs.
They can step in when the other team members are away and provide feedback and development to peers and other team members.
Please note: We may close this vacancy early if we receive an overwhelming response or our business requirements change.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Concept & Workshop Leadership
Drive Creative Innovation: Lead the development of inspiring concepts for design workshops, creating and presenting compelling briefs that push the boundaries of our gift ranges.
Workshop Facilitation: Manage the end-to-end execution of design workshops. You’ll be the guiding hand for attendees, providing constructive feedback to bring the best ideas to life, with support from the Gift Design Lead as needed.
Range Collaboration: Work closely with the Senior Designer to run design meetings, ensuring open-call designers are aligned with the collection’s creative direction.
Talent Pool & Community Management
Nurture the Talent Pool: Act as the main point of contact for our Gift Design Talent Pool. You’ll partner with recruitment to keep portfolios fresh and ensure our database of creators is always up to date.
Communication & Support: Manage the flow of briefs, re-briefs, and feedback for the Talent Pool. You’ll ensure project timelines are met and that our external collaborators feel supported and inspired throughout every project.
Visual Storytelling & Production
Exceptional Visual Detail: Take ownership of gift and Knot Wrap photography coordination. You’ll attend weekly launch meetings to ensure every gift is portrayed at its best on the website and in marketing materials.
Technical Expertise: Provide hands-on expertise for complex shoots (like specialist Knot Wrapping) and foresee specific photographic needs for gift tags and supporting collateral.
Design Development: Collaborate with R&D Packaging to brief and develop innovative new box concepts, participating in regular catch-ups to ensure design meets functionality.
Technical Execution & Team Growth
Artwork & Proofing: Prepare and approve design finishes and print set-ups. You'll organise artworks for proofing and ensure all design references are correctly documented in our Design Library.
Product Storytelling: Create detailed post-sign-off reference documents that help build the "full story" of a gift, ensuring a smooth transition into production and launch.
Mentorship: Support the growth of internal artworkers and designers by sharing your skills in print production and design development.
Operational Excellence: Ensure the creation and organisation of high-quality mock-ups for sign-off, delivering the right quantities on time, every time.
