The Finance & Risk Traineeship starts on 1 September 2026. In 18 months, you will make a unique kick-start to your professional career at Van Lanschot Kempen. We are looking for a diverse group of trainees, bringing together different profiles: from quants with a background in econometrics, and law graduates with an interest in and knowledge of financial laws and regulations, to economists with a passion for macroeconomic developments and students from other quantitative or analytical disciplines with a demonstrable interest in finance & risk. You will work in three different teams within Finance & Risk. You will also do one short rotation in a department outside the Finance & Risk domain to deepen your understanding of our organisation.
In each rotation, you will be assigned to a project in which you will develop your own vision, share your observations with the team and collaborate with other departments. Where possible, you will apply data and AI solutions in your project. During this traineeship, you will participate in a tailormade personal development program and you will be supported by a mentor. In a short period of time, you will get to know Van Lanschot Kempen and develop new skills. These skills and experiences, including targeted experience in applying AI in your daily work, will support your next steps within our organisation and throughout the rest of your career.
Previous rotation projects included:
- Building a pre-trade model to quantify the impact of proposed trades on portfolio risk metrics prior to execution.
- Project management and substantive contribution to the annual report, including drafting relevant chapters, editing for consistency, improving the Sustainability Statement, and (co-)drafting CSRD-related sections.
- Aligning the contracts with third-party service providers of Van Lanschot Kempen with the requirements of the DORA regulation.
- Analyzing climate and flood risks in the mortgage portfolio.
