- As a data engineer, you will work in one of the following two data teams; Housing or Amsterdam Management Information. Together with your team, you will be responsible for delivering data and information products, such as more affordable & sustainable housing or up-to-date & reliable management information.
- Further development of a modern data platform in an environment where (open) data, open source and cloud technologies are used.
- The data teams consist of five to six enthusiastic colleagues per team; ranging from data scientists, analysts to product owners and are characterised by openness, flexibility and closeness to the business.
The function
Amsterdam is in the process of digitalisation, which mainly means that we will be investing heavily in the coming years in the knowledge and competencies of our employees that are required for this, that we will be organising city-wide retraining programmes for jobs of the future and that agile working will be the norm in the IT, Innovation & Data component.
The Housing data team tackles various data issues from the Amsterdam Housing Approach (AVV). For example, consider mapping illegal holiday rentals. Or the major housing sustainability issue: What energy labels do homes have and where is the heating network in districts and neighbourhoods?
The Amsterdam Management Information (AMI) data team unlocks the data required for effective municipal business operations in a smart and accessible way. AMI brings crucial information to the surface, from financial figures to personnel and organisation data (P&O), and makes it available from multiple systems. Thanks to AMI, various users within the organisation can easily access up-to-date and reliable management information. Whether you work in finance, HR, or make decisions at a strategic level: AMI provides the information required to make well-founded choices.
As a data engineer, you will work in a Microsoft Azure cloud environment. You will take on the development and management of data pipelines that are deployed in Microsoft Azure using, among other things, Databricks. You will be involved in the entire data pipeline, from source unlocking of external data sources through APIs to making the final data product available. You will make data available to customers, tailored to the type of use, and you will proactively participate in the design process. Based on this, you will make design choices, for example with regard to privacy legislation. You will do all this to contribute to Amsterdam housing that is more suitable, sustainable and liveable, or to reliable management information.
