Main DescriptionAs a Control Officer on the Internal Control team, your main role is to help manage risks within Van Lanschot Kempen. You take a broad view of risk management because both our processes and IT landscape are highly interconnected. This means you're involved with things like internal and external reporting, financial transactions, and complying with laws and regulations. You bring relevant knowledge and experience in risk management within a financial institution.
You'll be responsible for monitoring the risks that come with our day-to-day business operations. To do this, you'll use different risk tools-such as control testing, action and incident management, and risk analysis-to support management in keeping risks under control. With your help, we make sure our processes are both robust and efficient, so that at the end of the year, management can confidently sign an "in control" statement.
As a Control Officer, you'll be involved in:
- Carrying out (key) control testing activities.
- Contributing to the creation of risk management reports.
- Handling incidents and conducting root cause analyses.
- Tracking the follow-up of action management items.
- Facilitating risk and control (self) assessments.
- Setting up and maintaining the control framework.
- Participating in various projects.
- Helping to increase risk awareness among employees.
RequirementsYou are a team player with strong social skills and excellent communication. This is how we can best describe you in the position of Control Officer. You think outside the box, ask the right questions, and are motivated by a healthy sense of ambition to understand the business and supporting IT processes, always aiming to add value. Your curiosity drives you to assess the risks within your focus area, but you also look at how developments impact other parts of the value chain. Given the international nature of Van Lanschot Kempen, solid English skills are important. We also value an innovative mindset, and you know how to make practical use of AI in your daily work.
You have:
- At least a bachelor's degree (HBO) and proven experience in an economic or financial field.
- Some experience as a Control Officer or Operational Risk Officer-although this is not strictly required.
- A hands-on, proactive attitude.
- The ability to engage confidently with senior management, as well as colleagues from Compliance, Non-Financial Risk Management, and Internal Audit.
- Demonstrable affinity with financial processes, applications, and procedures.
- An accurate, critical, and resilient approach to your work.
- A real team spirit, but you're also capable of working independently.
- The ability to recognize business risk issues from a first-line-of-defence perspective.
- Strong command of both Dutch and English.
