✍🏼🏓 Join the KLABU team as our Creative Communications Intern! 🎨📸
Who are we?
Hi! We’re KLABU, which means ‘club’ in Swahili. We’re the cross-border sports club changing the playing field for refugees. Our mission is to build clubhouses where refugees can find joy, pride and hope through sports, no matter the circumstances. Each clubhouse has its own unique KLABU sportswear, available to supporters worldwide who want to play their part. Our goal: to build the world’s biggest sports club and change the playing field for refugees.
We’re now looking for a Creative Communications Intern (based in or near Amsterdam) to join our Brand Team. You’ll play an important role in helping us grow the KLABU club and support even more refugees around the world. For the right candidate, this role can evolve into a full-time employment contract at KLABU after the internship.
Why this role?
Our Brand Team focuses on impact storytelling, collaborations and campaign development, and we want to welcome fresh creative energy eager to learn and support across many areas. This includes creating (writing / photo / video) digital content, managing our social channels, engaging with ambassadors and supporting both campaign and event productions.
Who are you?
You have a strong creative spark and an interest in storytelling through words, images or video. You can spot authentic, relevant stories, write for different channels and audiences, adapt your style to each context, and you have an eye for visuals that resonate. You might still be studying or building your portfolio, which is completely fine. What matters most is your creativity, curiosity and willingness to learn. We are keeping this application open on purpose, as we are looking for different types of creatives who are eager to develop their skills.
You enjoy working with people from many backgrounds and cultures. You care about what KLABU does and feel inspired by the power of sports and community to support refugees.
If you are interested in a wide range of creative and production areas and want to join an ambitious team working to change the playing field for refugees, we would love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be involved in many aspects of our Brand Team’s work. Creation sits at the heart of this internship: writing, capturing (in words, photo and/or video, depending on your skills and interest) and sharing stories from our club members around the world. You will also support the management of KLABU’s social channels (with focus on building and growing our TikTok channel), newsletters and website, as well as campaign and event productions.
Your responsibilities include:
- Creating KLABU stories and translating them into content for social media, our website, newsletters and blogs - this includes writing and photo / video, depending on your skills and interests
- Collaborating with creator teams in refugee camps and with our partners and supporters to gather content
- Social media planning, posting and day to day management
- Supporting community management across all KLABU channels
- Helping develop creative ideas for campaigns with the wider team
- Supporting KLABU event and campaign productions
- Helping update and maintain content on the KLABU website
Don’t worry if you can’t tick all boxes; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are key.

- Availability to work full time for the duration of the internship
